Asking for help isn’t easy, so if you’ve made it this far, it’s taken courage and I’m proud of you. Life is filled with struggles that can impact us all, and I take pride in creating a safe space to help individuals learn new skills and enhance existing skills to better manage life’s stressors and past experiences.

My name is Jodi Moore, I am a registered Clinical Social Worker, who holds a Bachelor of Social Work from St. Thomas University, and a Master of Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. I have been a practicing social worker for 17 years, having worked with a variety of unique individuals and families, and am grateful for the space these people have shared with me on their overall journey. I bring an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing upon different therapeutic modalities to help develop an individualized approach to each person I work with.

If you are struggling with low mood, lack of motivation, high anxiety, difficult stress, relationship challenges, or how to process past traumas in an effective way, finding a therapist you can connect with is an important first step. I work alongside people - appreciating you are the expert of your own life, while also working to provide support and encouragement to help you reach your goals. Some of the treatment approaches I offer included EMDR, IFS Informed, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills, and Solution Focused Therapy. Additionally, I am a WPATH trained clinician, and supportive of all gender people within the LGBTQ2SIAI+ community. I will gently challenge behaviors and beliefs that may be interfering with where you want to be, celebrate with you all your successes, and help you move forward with achieving your goals. I will work to create a safe space for you to process your thoughts, feelings and beliefs by taking a kind, genuine and supportive stance.

Reach out to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation, so that together we can decide if you think I might be a good fit for you.

Meet Mazikeen – Our Therapy Dog

We’re excited to introduce Mazikeen, the therapy dog at Curran Counselling and Consulting. Mazikeen is a Labrador Retriever/Mastiff mix who has completed extensive training, including specialized therapy dog certification. Her unique combination of breed traits makes her exceptionally well-suited to this role: Mastiffs are known for being affectionate, eager to please, and task-oriented, while Labradors are famously friendly, loyal, and intelligent—qualities that help therapy dogs thrive in therapeutic settings.

The Benefits of Therapy Dogs in Counselling

Having a therapy dog like Mazikeen present during counselling sessions can offer numerous emotional and psychological benefits. Therapy dogs can help create a warm, calming atmosphere, making it easier for individuals to feel safe, open up, and engage more deeply in the therapeutic process.

Interacting with a therapy dog can promote the release of oxytocin, a hormone associated with bonding and stress reduction, which may lead to a greater sense of calm and well-being. Therapy dogs also provide consistent, non-judgmental companionship—an invaluable source of comfort, especially for individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, or emotional distress.

Mazikeen has been trained to be a gentle and grounding presence without disrupting the therapeutic environment. She works alongside clinical therapist Jodi Moore and will only join a session with your informed consent, which can be withdrawn at any time.

Mazikeen looks forward to supporting you on your therapeutic journey—one paw at a time.
