Myrna Carlson
MSW, RSW
Hello, and a warm welcome!
My name is Myrna Carlson, and I am a Clinical Specialist and Registered Social Worker with over 30 years of experience supporting adults (ages 18+) through life's challenges, transitions, and difficult experiences.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in a variety of clinical settings, including the Avalon Centre and Community Mental Health Services. My work has included a particular focus on trauma, traumatic loss, and anxiety. These are areas of practice that hold deep meaning for me, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to support individuals as they navigate experiences that have shaped their lives.
I believe that feeling heard, understood, and safe is at the heart of meaningful therapeutic work. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity and respect for each person's unique experiences. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable showing up as they are, exploring what matters to them, and working toward change at a pace that feels right. I also recognize the important role that culture, identity, and lived experiences play in shaping our wellbeing.
With more than three decades of clinical experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and perspective to my work. At the same time, I believe every person and every story deserves to be approached with openness, kindness, and genuine care. I have tremendous respect for the courage it takes to reach out for support, and I find great meaning in walking alongside clients as they build self-understanding, work through difficult experiences, and move toward healing and wellness.
